About This Feature
With the Lexeri plug-in for Oxygen XML Editor, you can check your documents for correct terminology right within the editor. You no longer need to export your content or upload it to the Lexeri web app: the term check runs in a sidebar next to the document you're currently editing.
The plug-in offers you the following options:
- Run a term check on the open document.
- Highlight terms found in the document.
- Search the term database for individual terms.
- With the AI package: receive correction suggestions and replace non-recommended terms directly in the document.

Requirements
- Oxygen XML Editor is installed on your computer.
- You have been added as a user in Lexeri and you have access to the term database that you wish to use for the term check.
- To use the suggestion and replacement features, you'll need the paid AI package.
Install the plug-in
You can install the plug-in using the Add-on Manager in Oxygen XML Editor.
- In Oxygen XML Editor, open the menu: Help > Install new add-ons.
- Enter the following address in the field Show add-ons from and press Enter to confirm:
https://plugins.lexeri.com/oxygen/addon/updateSite.xml
- Select the Lexeri add-on from the list and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
- Allow the connection by clicking Allow and remember.
- Restart Oxygen XML Editor.
The Lexeri menu is now available in the menu bar.
Open the Lexeri sidebar and sign in
- Open the menu Lexeri and select the option to display the Lexeri sidebar.
- Enter the email address associated with your Lexeri account in the sidebar and log in.
The Lexeri sidebar is linked to your term database. It remains open while you work on your document.
Perform a term check
- In Oxygen XML Editor, open the document you want to review.
- Save the document.
- Launch the Term Check in the Lexeri sidebar.
The sidebar lists all terms found in the document, including the additional information in the search results.
Highlight Terms in the Document
To see the matches not only in the list but also at their exact locations in the text, you can have the terms found in the document highlighted.
- Run a term check on your document.
- Click the button with the eye icon. The button appears above the document.
All terms found will be highlighted in the document. Click the button again to turn off the highlighting.
Perform a term search
If you want to know which term has been assigned to a concept while you're writing, search the term database directly in the sidebar.
- In the Lexeri sidebar, go to the term search.
- Enter the term you are looking for.
The sidebar displays the relevant entries from the term database along with their usage status.
Replace Terms
With the AI package, Lexeri suggests an alternative wording for non-recommended terms that uses the preferred term. You can copy the suggestion directly into your document and won't have to rewrite that part yourself.
- Run a term check on your document.
- Select a non-recommended term from the list of results.
- Review the suggestion and include it in your document.
The non-recommended term has been replaced by the preferred term in the document.
Review each suggestion before accepting it: you are in the best position to decide whether a particular phrasing fits the context of your document.
